There are two types of expansion tanks: opened and closed.
Opened Expansion Tanks
Opened expansion tanks operate openly to the atmosphere. It protects the system by preventing the exceeding pressure in our installations, according to atmosphere pressure rate.
Closed Expansion Tanks
In systems where an opened expansion tank cannot be placed and operate at larger capacities, preferrably closed type applied with a pressure gauge and safety valve.
Parameters to be Considered in choosing Expansion Tank
- Capacity (in liters)
- Height of the place to be installed
- Compressive strength
- Auxiliary equipment to operate with expansion tank
How to Calculate Expansion Tank (Hydrophore Tank) Prices?
Expansion tank prices calculated based on criteria such as capacity (in liters), height of the place to be applied, pressure resistance, whether it is horizontal or vertical.
The benefits of Closed Expansion Tanks can be listed as below:
- Since the heating system installed in closed area, there is no any contact with air, and less corrosion.
- In closed heating system, water does not evaporate and disappear, therefore there is no water loss.
- In closed system, the pressure distribution is equal and the radiators evenly heated.
- It is placed right next to the boiler, so it saves on pipeline up to the roof, respectively the insulation, also less pipeline on each floor, and labor cost.
- Since the expansion tank on the roof removed, heat loss prevented.
- Easy to install and maintain.
- It takes up less space.
