Knife valves usually used where presized flow control not required, in mediums containing solid substances such as mud, sediment and fiber. The blade (slide) moves perpendicular to the flow direction, & not affected by the solid substances, through which may hinder the flow, unlike butterfly valves. Therefore, it is a preferred valve type for impure fluids.
