Air operated diaphragm pumps work based on the principle of pressurization and suction, and are used for various purposes in many different fields of industry. The driving process is not carried out with an electric motor. In diaphragm pumps, only air is used for driving.
Diaphragm Pumps
Diaphragm pumps work on a principle similar to suction and discharge pumps. Air operated diaphragm pumps are driven not by an electric motor but by pressurized air. Depending on the pump's flow capacity and the required pressure value of operating conditions, it operates by connecting to an appropriately sized compressor in the air line.
Since air operated diaphragm pumps do not operate with electricity, they have explosion-proof features. For this reason, they are frequently preferred for the transfer of fuels, solvents, and many other flammable and combustible fluids. In addition to their ability to perform deep suction and operate dry (although diaphragm life may be shortened), their pumping flow rate and pressure can be easily adjusted.
For these reasons, air operated pumps can be used in a wide range of applications in many industries, such as transfer, circulation, filling, and dosing.
