Fields of Use / Food and Hygienic Applications
Hygiene is extremely important in food materials. Therefore, the exchangers used in food applications are produced entirely as stainless steel. The food material only comes into contact with stainless surfaces and special seals that have received food suitability certificate (FDA). Some of the systems used in this area are as follows.
Milk Pasteurization
Milk, which is one of the basic food materials, is a food material that is difficult to store for a long time in addition to production and collection. Therefore, various methods have been tried over time to enable it to be stored for a long time, and finally, the pasteurization technology has been developed. Pasteurization is the process of quickly heating milk to high temperatures and then lowering the temperature. Thus, the bacteria in the milk are deactivated, extending the shelf life of the milk. MIT Plate Exchangers are designed to be very gradient-compatible for pasteurization. The biggest advantage of using plate exchangers in pasteurization is the ability to achieve high regeneration values. In the milk plate exchanger, there is a loop inside, so the hot milk coming from the heating and the cold milk going to the cooling stage collide during the regeneration stage, causing heat transfer. Thanks to this system, which saves energy and time, the process is completed much faster and at much lower costs. In MIT Plate Exchangers with multiple levels, hygienic inlets and outlets for other equipment such as Separator, Homogenizer, Holder, and Degasser are designed according to the request and delivered ready for installation.
Yogurt - Buttermilk Pasteurization
As a result of the processes applied to milk, yogurt, just like milk, is a very suitable environment for bacteria to live and multiply. Therefore, similar processes applied to milk are also applied to yogurt. MIT wide-gap plate exchangers provide maximum performance in viscous fluids such as yogurt and buttermilk, offering a flawless pasteurization solution.
CIP Applications
Hygiene is very important in processing food materials such as milk and yogurt, which are suitable for bacterial formation. In these applications, the entire processing line where the food material is processed should be cleaned at certain intervals to prevent bacterial formation. The liquid used for cleaning is called CIP. This liquid should be circulated in the system at certain flow rates and temperatures. MIT Plate Exchangers are also used to maintain the CIP liquid at the desired temperatures.
Chemical Applications
Chemical fluids used in the chemical industry need to be heated or cooled according to the process. To achieve accurate results, the process should be carried out at the correct temperature values at every stage. Heating can be done with steam or hot water, and cooling can be done with sources such as a cooling tower and chiller. The main problem in the chemical industry is the level of aggressiveness of the chemicals used. Aggressive chemicals pose a risk to both plates and seals in plate exchangers. Therefore, choosing the right plates and seals is vital. In MIT Plate Exchangers, solutions suitable for all types of fluids are produced with specific applications such as double-layer plates, different alloys, and special viton seals.
